discover用作及物动词，意思为“发现(原先就存在而不为人知的地方和事实)”，后面可接名词、代词或从句。注意和invent区别开来。invent意思是“发明(原先不存在的机器或方法等)”。find意思是“找到丢失的或不知道的人或物”。例如:
Columbus discovered America.
They discovered oil in the North Sea.
