Even credit veterans can get lost in the woods. The daily demands of credit and collections can be overwhelming, especially when the unexpected hits. Often, it takes very little to knock a smooth-running credit and collection operation off track. Then, what was once an organized, methodical collection machine becomes a seemingly endless fire drill. By the time one brush fire is brought under control, two or three or four more have ignited. It doesn't take long for a credit staff to get scattered throughout the forest, racing from one conflagration tote next, unable to see the forest for the trees.
