后半句中主要看found

这是一个强调句型，It was...that...
强调句型简单来说有两种形式，一各是对谓语动词强调，谓语动词用“do+动词原形”的形式其它部分不变。另一种是对其它部分的强调，用It is/was...that...的形式，that前面是所要强调的部分，后面是句子的其它成份。
如：I cleaned the room.
对谓语部分强调：i did clean the room.
对主语部分强调：It was i that/who clean the room.
对宾语部分强调:It was the room that i clean.
而在本题中强调的是a ship ,并且后面还带着一个从句:which had been sunk many years before,虽然很长，但是道理一样。

这是it's...that...句型
这种句型在于强调it's后面的内容，在此句中强调的则是a ship，是一艘船被发现而不是别的东西
