eg:there are hundreds of people 这里hundred 加了s 但名词没加s
i have a couple of thousand pounds in the bank.i can afford the precious piano.这里thousand没有加s但后面的名词加了s
Thousands of letters are never delivered because the addresses are incorrect.这里的thousand和 letter都加了s
能说说为什么吗

hundereds of 和 thousands of 的意思是很多...后面要跟名词的复数形式，由于people是不可数名词，所以后面不加s，而letter时可数名词所以后面要加s。
第二句中，a couple of 是一对的意思加上后面的thousand意思就为2000，因为thousand是数词，所以不加s，pound时可数名词，所以加s。 a couple of thousand pounds即为2000英镑。

有a couple还用加s？不用加

因为第一句hundred本身是形容词， 所以要加众数S。 后面那一句形容词是A COUPLE OF， 所以后面的thousands便不用加了。 第三句跟第一句一样。

应该是有a无(hundered等)"s",有(hundered等)"s"无a

第一题 people 是没有复数的, 本身己是复数, 因不只一千而是几千所以thosands
第二题 a couple of thousand 这thousand 是形容 pound 这名词,不用复数, 如five foot tall boy, 不是five feet tall boy
最后 如第一题 是几千及很多信, 信是可数的, 所以都有s

hundred,thousand 等前面有具体的数词时，不加s
就像第二题，a couple of 译为“一对”，就是两个， 所以thousand 后面就不加s
相反，当hundred,thousand 等前面没有数词时，且表示“数以百计、千计”等的时候就应加s ,而且可数名词都应加s ,第一题的people 为集合名词，为复数 故不加s
