ScriptOS is programmed on a PC compatible notebook or other computer by entering sequence data in an English-like script language, much the same way data is entered into a spreadsheet. The script is then downloaded to the V4+ in just seconds by connecting a standard RS-232C cable to its programming port. All the show data is stored in non-volatile EEPROM memory, which will last forever with no battery backup required. Once the V4+ is programmed, the PC is no longer needed.
ScriptOS understands the native language of Pioneer, Sony, Panasonic and other video disc players, video switchers, VTRs and other serial devices. It automatically processes handshaking and retries in a manner completely transparent to the user. Other messages may be entered in ASCII, decimal or hex, and assigned names for use in the script's sequences.
Each of the 256 sequences may control any or all of the serial devices, and may also access external Alcorn McBride show control products, providing nearly unlimited Input/Output capability. In addition, state variables, flags and conditionally branching capabilities permit the implementation of extremely complex control processes.
The V4+ also includes 16 opto-isolated discrete inputs, 16 relay outputs, 16 front-panel pushbuttons, and an NTSC video sync input to insure perfect frame to frame synchronization between multiple video-disc players. All serial ports may be configured for both RS-232 and RS-422/485.
