提起加拿大的女歌手, 十个有十个都会说Celine Dion吧! 今次为大家介绍一位来自加拿大英属哥伦比亚的葡萄牙藉女歌手Nelly Furtado。很多人喜欢王菲、许美静的广东歌, 相信都是因为她俩的口音唱起广东歌时很有feel。同样的情况, Nelly Furtado的英文发音, 有着浓浓的葡国口音, 这特色使她唱起歌来, 多了一份异国情调, 也是笔者喜欢Nelly Furtado的原因。她的声线有点似Erykah Badu和Gwen Stefani, 而音乐风格则像Sade唱着Alanis Morissette的作品。

首张debut album内的歌曲充满Hip-Hop、R & B、folk和bossa nova的元素, 亦有点点拉丁风格, 但却并非Jennifer Lopez、Ricky Martin那种over-produced的latin-pop。Debut Single《I’m Like A Bird》、《Turn Off The Night》试听 、《My Love Grows Deeper Part 1》都是R & B的歌曲, 以葡国口音唱出的R & B, 与传统TLC、Destiny’s Child的美式R & B有何分别, 大家真的要亲自听听。“Party”采用Samba曲式, 拉丁节奏加上jazz guitar, 很有电影《乐满夏湾拿》的感觉, 绝对表现Nelly Furtado充满原始魅力的唱腔。

21岁的年纪, 如果在美国发展, 九成九会被塑造成一个teen-pop idol。幸好来自加国的Nelly Furtado, 没有变成另一个Britney Spears或Christina Aguilera!
