This paper mainly expounds the development status of the appropriateness evaluation of land, including traditional theoretical methods and modern theoretical methods combined with various mathematical statistical methods and 3S technique. This paper also elaborates the classifications and processes of the appropriateness evaluation of land and finally takes the Dongli district in Tianjin as an example to illuminate the practicability of using the method of equal difference to conduct the appropriateness evaluation of land for small region.
