问题1 .我在英语学习机里面看到2个关于动词cost的句子.搞不懂什么时候加s了.
the book costs 15 yuan (为什么加S)
how dear the lesson costs
the work cost them much labour (怎么又不加S)
the accident cost him his life
后来做的题目much of the carbon in the earth (comes)from things that once lived. (这个是一般现在时.主语不可数名词~~谓语用单数) 也不能解释上面的几个句子啊
问题 2 all the worries they might have felt for him __were driven__ (drive) off by the sight of his cheerful face.为什么是被动
难道the book 和 the lesson是第三人称单数吗....

第一、二个因为是第三人称单数，所以加s；第三、四个是
过去式；
第二个问题：
“all the worries they might have felt for him”，其中“all the worries”是主语，这个句子的直面意思是：“他们留给他的烦恼被他那那勇敢的面对所击败了”
1. 一般现在时的第三人称单数用costs ，不加s 是因为不是一般现在时，而是一般过去时。
2. 仔细体会一下，忧虑确实是被驱散的，应该用被动。
1.cost 的过去式与原型是一样的，所以你给的后两句话可能是过去时态。
2.句子的译文是：他们所有的担心都被他脸上的喜悦一驱而散了。
