这三个词都近于汉语的"悲伤","悲哀".
Grieve 做不及物动词用时,强调内心诚恳的悲伤,常是持久性的, 例如:

After twenty years,she still grieves for her dead child(二十年过去啦,她仍然为她死去的孩子悲伤).

Lament 一般指出声的"悲悼","哀哭",有时也用于借喻或
诗意的语言中, 比如:

In his long poem Li Sao, the poet Qu Yuan laments (over) the state of affairs in the Kingdom of CHu.(在长诗<离骚>里,屈原为楚国的情况而悲叹).

Mourn 与lament较相近,表示显现于外表的悲伤,也可指哭泣. 比如:

The whole country mourned (over)the death of Premier Zhou En Lai.(全国都在为周总理的逝世而悲伤).

特别注意!!
lament 和mourn 可以省略后面连用的介词over或for而用做及物动词, 然而grieve则不能.
grieve作及物动词时,以其它人或事或无人称it 做主语,以感觉悲痛的人做直接宾语,表示"使,,,,难过","使,,,,悲伤", mourn 和lament 没有这种用法.

比如:

His conduct grieves his mother(他的行为使他的母亲悲伤).

I am grieved to hear he has adopted such an attitude.(听到他采取这样的态度,我很难过).

It grieves me to hear that he has failed in the examination.(听到他考试不及格, 我很难过).
