Alex D. Linz replaces that other kid and there's a new cast of villains, but the formula remains the same.

If you have not yet seen this film, I strongly encourage you to stop reading this review and run -- don't walk -- to the nearest video store to purchase a copy.

I recently had the pleasure of viewing this cinematic masterpiece in its entirety (on cable television). The uninformed may consider this film inferior to the first two, because it doesn't feature the endearing young Macaulay Culkin (and lovable rogues Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern). However, in my humble opinion, the plot, the pranks, and the lovable Alex D. Linz quickly will have viewers asking "Macaulay who?" Left to his own devices, the fiendishly clever young Alex really puts these "Eurotrash" spies through the ringer. The sadistic pranks are every bit as good (if not better) than in the previous two Home Alone films. At the end of the day, the FBI is lucky to have Alex (and his affable parrot) on its side, as the international criminals -- having literally taken a beating -- are brought to justice.

Viewers may also be surprised to learn that, in an early high-water mark performance, actress Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation) appears as Alex's sister.

2)
Like many people I know, I think Home Alone 1 & 2 are classic comedies and getting a new cast would make the 3rd installment not as good as the others. How wrong could I be?!? Home Alone 3 is much better than the first two put together! Culkin had cheekiness to him but Alex D. Linz has cuteness which makes him great with the bad guys. Pesci and Stern were also great but the new bad guys pulled it off. Olek Krupa, Rya Kihlstedt, Lenny Von Dohlen and David Thornton make the excellent team. Though they are intelligent with all their high-tech gadgets, they have no sense between them (so now Alex is able to foil their plans). All are great but Von Dohlen and Thornton are the funniest of all the bad guys and they'd make a great comedy duo. In addition to the new cast is Alex's pet rat Doris and his brother's (Seth Smith) pet parrot to help him. The parrot has some of the most funniest lines of all and confuse the bad guys in the process. This movie is a real kids pleaser but adults will enjoy it too.

3)
I really like the movie "Home Alone 3." I watch it at least every year. When I first saw the movie, I liked it more than I thought I would. You either do or don't like it, but I think it's a good movie and better than the first two. I like the criminals better on this movie. This time there are 4 criminals, a new kid, and a different family. Unlike the first two, the beginning starts out with the criminals and you find out their plan. If you ever started watching the beginning of the movie on T.V. and you missed the title, you wouldn't guess it was a home alone movie. You'd think it was some kind of action movie until you saw the kid. I think you should see "Home Alone 3" at least one time. You know, you might actually like it. It's also a really funny movie. You probably could find it on T.V. during Christmas, even if this time it isn't really a Christmas movie. It takes place some time in January. I'd give "Home Alone 3" a 9 out of 10.

4)
If you liked the first two films starring Macaulay Culkin, then the bad news is that he is replaced by a new kid named Alex D. Linz playing Alex Pruitt, but the good news is that this is actually a good film. The new idea is that he is left at home on purpose, looking after himself. Four criminals, Mr. Beaupre, Mr. Jernigan, Mr. Unger and Alice Ribbons, have stolen a computer chip that goes into a missile. They put it into a toy car and accidentally swap bags. The kid has now got the car and is now defending himself with new goofy and dangerous booby traps set for cartoon like comedy. The villains are good and the new kid is pretty good, oh, and the comedy is still good! Good!

5)
I love all the home alone movies, including this. There's more baddies and better traps, making it more exiting. How could anyone hate this? There's pets added in this, including the hilarious parrot. The bad guys are not stupid, their serious, and the new choice for Alex was just as good as the old. I'm going to comment on the first two but when I saw people dissing it I had to do this first. It's great family entertainment- they've completely changed the whole cast so he still has an annoying family- one big brother and sister that hate him- and parents that are nice, but always away from home. The traps are sooo funny! Especially when the bad guy gets electrocuted!

6)
Alex D. Linz replaces Macaulay Culkin as the central figure in the third movie in the Home Alone empire. Four industrial spies acquire a missile guidance system computer chip and smuggle it through an airport inside a remote controlled toy car. Because of baggage confusion, grouchy Mrs. Hess (Marian Seldes) gets the car. She gives it to her neighbor, Alex (Linz), just before the spies turn up. The spies rent a house in order to burglarize each house in the neighborhood until they locate the car. Home alone with the chicken pox, Alex calls 911 each time he spots a theft in progress, but the spies always manage to elude the police while Alex is accused of making prank calls. The spies finally turn their attentions toward Alex, unaware that he has rigged devices to cleverly booby-trap his entire house. Home Alone 3 wasn't horrible, but probably shouldn't have been made, you can't just replace Macauley Culkin, Joe Pesci, or Daniel Stern. Home Alone 3 had some funny parts, but I don't like when characters are changed in a movie series, view at own risk.
